May/June 2020 Newsletter

Dear Neighbors,

I hope my newsletter reaches you in good health & spirit. I have consolidated my newsletters to bi-monthly rotations, so that each email can be as informative as possible.

Our city and state are reopening but Coronavirus is surging.

Regardless of your politics, FACE MASKS WORK. I do not say this lightly. I've spent a lot of time looking at all the information, and FACE MASKS WORK. Please stay safe.

We have a new Tiny House development in District 8, at North Brown and Lacy Streets.

We also have a number of upcoming smaller scale housing developments coming up that will fit nicely into our neighborhoods.

I have been working on my plan to make opportunities for small businesses and small developers in our community a reality.

I have also been working to calm traffic on Holland Street, improve street lighting, fill pot holes, and to improve the COMET service which is important to many of our residents.

The City of West Columbia & I have encouraged residents of our neighborhoods to apply to serve on our Planning and Zoning committees. This is very important for our city's future. You may apply here.

The Artisan Market is back on again, every Saturday after Independence Day weekend.

As we approach the holiday weekend, I wish you & your family a safe & healthy Independence Day!

Fireworks

City Ordinance allows for the discharging or shooting of fireworks on July 4th, Independence Day, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 11:00 PM ONLY. Please refrain from discharging fireworks at any other time. The West Columbia Police Department’s non-emergency phone number is: 803-794-0721.

Sanitation

Due to the recent storms, please leave out any yard trash that is not collected on Thursday. It will be picked up on Monday. You may report service requests online by visiting our Civic Web Portal, https://westcolumbiasc.civicweb.net/portal. Please call City Hall at (803) 791-1880 if you have any questions.

Lastly, I have been nominated for Free Time's Best of Columbia for Best Councilman & voting will end tomorrow. The only councilman on the ballot to represent West Columbia. Please vote for me here (scroll down to the 3rd category):

Thank you in advance.

If you need anything at all, please do not be afraid to reach out via email or my cell.
